Description & Purpose

NASA Mississippi Space Grant Consortium, in partnership with the Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE), is hosting the 2024 Annual Teachers Conference. Designed for math and science middle school teachers (grades 5-8), it provides opportunities to interact with other professionals in hands-on mathematics and science professional development sessions. This conference is facilitated by NASA Aerospace Education Specialists, MSSGC and CMSE associates, and other professionals.

Dates & Location

Friday, January 19, 2024, from 8:15 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The 2024 NASA Mississippi Space Grant Annual Teachers Conference will be held in person at the Jackson Avenue Center at Ole Miss on the University of Mississippi-Oxford campus.

Lodging

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hampton Inn Oxford West and Holiday Inn Express Oxford for attendees who live 50 miles or more from Oxford, MS, for the nights of January 18, 2024, and January 19, 2024.  You will need to register for the conference and choose whether or not you will need a room on your registration form. The conference planners will make your room reservations based on your selection.

You will personally be responsible for incidentals and the conference will cover the cost of the overnight room. You may be asked to provide a credit card for incidentals at the time of check-in.

Teacher Eligibility

All middle school math and science teachers in Mississippi are invited to attend the 2024 Annual Teachers Conference. Teachers who are seeking to attend the conference for the first time will have priority. Conference attendees will be eligible for a $75.00 stipend, as well as 1.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for completion of the entire conference. Teachers who do not complete all components of the conference will be ineligible to receive the completion certificate, the 1.2 CEUs, or the stipend payment.

The $25 registration fee is REQUIRED in order to hold your spot. After you have attended the entire conference, you will be refunded this amount in addition to receiving a stipend payment in the amount of $75.

Number of Conference Seats

There are 65 conference seats available for 2024. All seats will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis, however priority will be given to first time conference attendees. Teachers are encouraged to register early.
