GRE

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is developed and administered by test maker ETS to provide graduate and business schools with common measures for comparing applicants’ qualifications and preparedness for graduate-level academic work.

The GRE is offered at the UM Testing Center Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. For more information visit GRE.

Praxis

The Praxis tests measure a teacher candidate's general and subject-specific content knowledge needed for teaching. Each Praxis assessment reflects what educators across the United States believe to be important for new teachers. We offer the following Praxis exams:

  • Professional Assessments for Beginning Teachers I (Praxis)
  • Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators
  • Praxis II

Pearson

The University of Mississippi is now one of more than 450 credential owners across the globe to choose Pearson VUE to help develop, manage, deliver, and grow our testing program. Pearson VUE now allows us to serve tests in nearly every industry, including academia, finance, government, health care, IT, and more.

Prometric

The UM Testing Center offers various Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examinations through Prometric’s test delivery system.

Certiport

The UM Testing Center offers exams by Certiport, the leading provider of certification exam development, delivery, and program management services.

Metro Institute

The UM Testing Center offers Metro Institute examinations. Metro Institute provides online computer-based testing services in Mississippi for the Department of Agriculture & Commerce. MDAC proctored testing sites are located throughout the state.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I not bring to my test?

Cell phones, smartphones, and/or any other electronic, photographic, scanning, recording or listening devices are not permitted at the test center at all. Test Takers will be able to store electronic devices in a locker, but you are encouraged not to bring them into the test center at all.  If you are seen ACCESSING any such device during a test, you will be dismissed from the testing center. 

Personal items are not allowed in the testing room and will not be available to you during the test or during breaks. Depending on your exam, test takers may be required to participate in a security screening(s) (e.g. emptying your pockets).

If you are taking a computer-delivered test, you will be assigned a locker to store your belongings. If you are taking a paper-delivered test, secure storage space will not be available at the test center, so please plan accordingly.

What if I have health-related needs?

If you have health-related needs requiring you to bring equipment, beverages, or snacks into the testing room or to take extra or extended breaks, you need to request accommodations in advance. Procedures for requesting accommodations are described on your exam host’s website (i.e. ETS, Pearson, Prometric, Certiport, Metro Institute, etc).

Will I need a parking pass?

Parking passes may be available to test takers. UM students/staff/faculty cannot be provided temporary parking passes.
Test takers are expected to comply with all traffic and parking regulations and may park only in the appropriate visitor lots. Please be sure your permit is displayed appropriately.
