Summer Aid Application

The Office of Pre-College Programs at the University of Mississippi works throughout the year to secure scholarship funding for students interested in participating in our summer programs. We have numerous partners that we work with to bring scholarship funding to students with high academic achievement and/or demonstrated financial need.

Summer 2023 Financial Aid Opportunities

Below is a listing of current opportunities available. The student and their parents/legal guardians must complete a Financial Aid Application and return it to our office with the required documentation listed in the application. If a family is unable to provide part of the information requested, please contact the Office of Pre-College Programs at precollege@olemiss.edu or call 662-915-7621.

UM Outreach Non-Credit Scholarship

The Division of Outreach and Continuing Education at the University of Mississippi provides scholarship opportunities for Mississippi students that demonstrate financial need and interest in our summer programs. Scholarship awards are first-come, first-served and only one scholarship may be awarded per student.

Eligibility for UM-Outreach Non-Credit Scholarship:

  • Must be a Mississippi resident.
  • Must demonstrate financial need based on the federal poverty guidelines used to determine free or reduced lunch eligibility. May submit last year’s tax return or another proof of income.

UM Division of Outreach Credit Programs Scholarship

The Division of Outreach and Continuing Education at the University of Mississippi provides scholarship opportunities for Mississippi students that demonstrate academic merit, financial need, and interest in our summer college credit programs. Scholarship awards are first-come, first-served and only one scholarship may be awarded per student. 

Eligibility for UM Outreach Credit Programs Scholarship: 

  • Preference for Mississippi residents. Limited funding available to non-MS residents.
  • Must demonstrate financial need based on the federal poverty guidelines used to determine free or reduced lunch eligibility. May submit last year’s tax return or another proof of income. 
  • Must complete a personal statement from the student demonstrating their achievements and interests in the program.
  • Must submit current high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores (if applicable).

McCullouch-Greer Fund Scholarships

The McCullouch-Greer Fund to Advance Writing as a Civic Responsibility scholarship is available to students registering for the 2023 Writing for the Future: Preparing College and Scholarship Applications.

Eligibility:

  • Must be participating in Writing for the Future: Preparing College and Scholarship Applications
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

Toyota Wellspring Education Fund - CREATE Foundation

For students from Lee, Pontotoc, and Union Counties

The Toyota Wellspring award is available to eligible students who desire to attend approved University of Mississippi summer camps (as noted on the program’s information page). Scholarship awards are first-come, first-served and only one scholarship may be awarded per student.

Students are responsible for paying a $25 registration fee. Scholarships cover the remaining program cost for approved camps. Students wishing to waive the $25 registration fee may supply documentation with their financial aid application to demonstrate financial need.

To receive a scholarship code to register, please complete the online Summer Aid Application. Once the scholarship committee has reviewed your request, a scholarship code and registration instructions will be emailed to the address on your application.

Eligibility for the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund:

  • Must be enrolled at a public school in Lee, Pontotoc, or Union County.
  • Must be a rising 7th- to 12th-grade student.
  • Must complete a personal statement from the student demonstrating their achievements and interests in the program.

UM Outreach Day Camp Scholarship

The UM Division of Outreach and Continuing Education provides scholarship opportunities for students of full-time faculty and staff at the University of Mississippi that demonstrate financial need and interest in our elementary and middle school summer day camps. Scholarship awards are first-come, first-served and only one scholarship for one week of camp may be awarded per student.

Eligibility for UM-Outreach Day Camp Scholarship:

  • Must be a custodial child of a full-time University of Mississippi faculty or staff member, including regional campuses and UMMC.
  • Must demonstrate financial need based on the federal poverty guidelines used to determine free or reduced lunch eligibility. May submit last year’s tax return or another proof of income. 

Citizen’s Bank Day Camp Scholarship

Eligibility for Citizen’s Bank Day Camp Scholarship:

  • Awarded to students demonstrating financial need
  • Must be enrolled in a Mississippi high school, with preference given to schools in the following communities:
    • Attala County – Kosciusko
    • Forrest County – Hattiesburg
    • Harrison County – Biloxi and Gulfport
    • Jackson County – Ocean Springs and Pascagoula
    • Kemper County – De Kalb and Scooba
    • Lafayette County – Oxford
    • Lamar County – Hattiesburg
    • Lauderdale County – Collinsville and Meridian
    • Leake County – Carthage and Sebastopol
    • Madison County – Ridgeland
    • Neshoba County – Philadelphia
    • Newton County – Decatur and Union
    • Oktibbeha County – Starkville
    • Rankin County – Flowood
    • Scott County – Forest and Sebastopol
    • Winston County – Louisville and Noxapater

Academic Competition Scholarships

Many of the academic competitions offered by the Office of Pre-College Programs award scholarship opportunities to one of four summer programs – JumpStart, UM Summer Language Institute, EdStart, and Summer College. All scholarships are sponsored by the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education at the University of Mississippi. To redeem a competition scholarship, students should complete the online Academic Competitions Scholarship Form and upload a photo of their award, certificate, and/or medal to the form.
