Instructor Information: I have been a University of Mississippi HS mathematics instructor since 2011. I teach Algebra II, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. In addition to teaching online, I am a full time math teacher at Pontotoc High School where I teach Statistics, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and ACT Prep. |

Course Description: This course is comprised of both precalculus topics and Calculus I topics. The precalculus topics are integrated throughout the course text according to function type in order to better facilitate the transition to higher order concepts. Prerequisites: Two years of high school mathematics beyond plane geometry, including trigonometry. |

Required Textbook: Calculus I with Precalculus: A One-Year Course (High School Edition), 3rd Edition by Larson, Ron - 2012 ISBN 10: 1-111-57679-3; ISBN 13: 978-1-111-57679-0 Be sure you get this exact textbook, which will have a code for CourseMate. This is an online video and practice site which will give you access to more information. This course has been designed for use with the 3rd edition of the text. If you choose to use the earlier edition of the text you must be aware of the following: Both editions are very similar and contain all chapters and sections covered in this course. The earlier edition does not contain certain revisions and supplementary exercises. The earlier edition does not correlate with the suggested homework assignments. It is the student's responsibility to order his or her textbook. Online textbook retailers such as Amazon.com, ABEbooks.com, or Half.com usually provide used textbooks at economical prices. You must make sure you are ordering the exact book required in this syllabus. |
