I have been a University of Mississippi HS mathematics instructor since 2011. I teach Algebra II, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. In addition to teaching online, I am a full time math teacher at Pontotoc High School where I teach Statistics, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and ACT Prep.

Course Description:

This course is comprised of both precalculus topics and Calculus I topics. The precalculus topics are integrated throughout the course text according to function type in order to better facilitate the transition to higher order concepts. Prerequisites: Two years of high school mathematics beyond plane geometry, including trigonometry.

This course has been designed for use with the 3rd edition of the text. If you choose to use the earlier edition of the text you must be aware of the following: Both editions are very similar and contain all chapters and sections covered in this course. The earlier edition does not contain certain revisions and supplementary exercises. The earlier edition does not correlate with the suggested homework assignments.

Grading Scale:

93 - 100% = A
85 - 92% = B
75 - 84% = C
70 - 74% = D
Below 69% = F

The grading in this course is comprised of three elements: quizzes, chapter tests, and a cumulative final exam.

1. Quizzes (30%) There is a quiz assigned for most sections. Each quiz must be completed before the following chapter test can be taken. You may attempt each quiz only once. Make certain to save your quiz several times as you are working through it. The quizzes are designed to give you a snap shot of the material that will appear on the following test.
2. Tests (50%) Tests must be proctored and will be completed at the end of every chapter covered in the course. These tests will include all concepts covered thus far, with a major emphasis on the material in the most recently completed chapter. Make sure to save your test several times as you are working through it.
3. Final Exam (20%) The final exam must be proctored and will be cumulative.
