Course Description:

History of the Ancient Middle East: 2000 B.C. ñ 100 A.D. (one-year course)

Required Textbook:

  • Atlas (online versions will suffice)
  • Bible (online versions are readily available)
  • All other information is embedded in the course

Recommended Texts & Other Readings:

  • Almanac - to read the synopsis of Middle Eastern countriesí history to help get a frame of reference
  • A map of modern day Middle East - this will help you put things into perspective
  • YouTube - find various videos on the rise and fall of various Middle Eastern empires

It is the student's responsibility to order his or her textbook. Online textbook retailers such as Amazon.com, ABEbooks.com, or Half.com usually provide used textbooks at economical prices.

Final Exam Password-protected proctored exam to be scheduled in advance.

Grading Scale:

93 - 100% = A
85 - 92% = B
75 - 84% = C
70 - 74% = D
Below 69% = F

The grading format is as follows:

  • Projects / Essays = 40%
  • Chapter/unit vocabulary/comprehension quizzes = 30%
  • Midterm / Final Exams = 30%
