Staffing

Yes. The Chapel does not provide a minister for the marriage ceremony or make recommendations. The Chapel also does not provide a wedding coordinator, but couples are welcome to hire one should they choose.

A university staff member will be present to unlock/lock the chapel and auxiliary building and turn lights and sound system on/off. However, no staff will remain on-site during your rehearsal or ceremony.

The HVAC system is managed by the University, and the Chapel is kept at a consistent temperature year-round. There is no thermostat at the Chapel.

Music

Yes, the Chapel has a Bluetooth-compatible music system that may be used with a cellphone. The wedding party is responsible for operating this equipment during the event.

There are two built-in microphones located at the permanent podiums. These are turned on by University staff for both the rehearsal and the wedding.

Piano
Yes, upon request. Contact the Chapel Director to have the piano unlocked for your rehearsal. After use, the piano must be returned to the Mediation Room (left of the stage).

Organ
Yes, an approved organist may play the chapel organ and/or carillon. A list of approved organists will be provided after your reservation is confirmed.

Yes. The University’s Department of Music is a great resource for musicians and vocalists. Any fees for musicians are paid directly to the musicians by the wedding party.

The bells cannot be used to play “Wedding Bells” or custom chimes. They chime automatically on the hour and half-hour unless silenced by request.

Decor

To preserve the beauty and integrity of the Chapel, all decorations must comply with specific guidelines designed to prevent damage to the building and interior. These policies ensure that the space remains a welcoming and well-maintained venue for all.

Candles

  • Ceremonial candles (e.g., unity or memorial candles) are allowed only on the altar table.
  • Open-flame candles are not allowed elsewhere in the chapel.
  • Electric candles are permitted.

Flowers

  • Both real and silk flower arrangements are allowed but must be removed immediately after the ceremony.

Flower Petals & Tossing Materials

  • Inside the Chapel: Only silk/polyester petals are allowed and must be cleaned up afterward.
  • Outside the Chapel: Real petals or bird seed may be used. Rice and confetti are not allowed.

Tape is strictly prohibited on pews, walls, or floors. No tape of any kind may be used on the floors for marking positions or any other purpose.

  • Walls: No decorations may be hung from the walls.
  • Front door: A permanent hook is available for a wreath or hanging floral arrangement.
  • Other doors: Use wreath holders only.
  • Pew decorations: Only use ribbon to secure decorations to pews—no tape or adhesives. Due to the pew design (with stained molding on top), most pew clips or signage stands will not fit.
  • The altar table and large chairs on the stage may be moved but must be returned to their original positions.
  • All other furniture and podiums are permanent and cannot be moved
  • An iron and marble table in the front foyer by the front door may be used for the guestbook or floral display. This table must remain in place and cannot be moved.

The Chapel and auxiliary building must be left in the same condition as found. The wedding party is responsible for cleaning up immediately after the ceremony, within the reserved time period.
