Meetings & Events at Paris-Yates Chapel

The Paris-Yates Chapel serves as a welcoming space for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors of the University.

Availability:

First-come, first-served scheduling applies, with exceptions for recurring meetings. Check our reservation page.

Meetings

In addition to the main chapel space, there is a meditation room available for small group gatherings, such as meditation sessions or study groups. Reservations are required, and each room may be reserved for up to one hour at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no charge for faculty, staff, students, or sanctioned campus organizations to use the Chapel for campus events; this does not include weddings.

As part of our general guidelines for use, please be mindful of the following rules for the space:

Decor & Cleaning

The chapel must be left as it was found–clean and in order:

  • Nothing shall be hung from the walls. No handouts shall be left in the Chapel.
  • Food and beverages are strictly prohibited in the Chapel. No alcoholic beverages may be served on the Chapel grounds.
  • No candles are allowed except ceremonial candles on the altar table.
  • No tape of any kind can be used on the floors or elsewhere in the chapel. Only ribbons may be used to secure any decorations to the pews. 
  • Take care to avoid marring the finish of the pews.

Approved Vendors

Only an approved organist may play the Chapel organ and/or carillon. The list of approved organists can be obtained  by contacting the Director of the Chapel by e-mail at chapel@olemiss.edu

Regulating Guidelines

  • Interpretation of the regulations and their adjustment to special circumstances shall be the prerogative of the Director of the Chapel.
  • Parties violating policies of the Paris-Yates Chapel may lose privilege to use the Chapel.

While funerals are not permitted at the chapel, we do allow memorial services for University faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We’d be honored to help coordinate the details with you.

Yes, university departments and recognized student organizations may schedule regular meetings for the academic year (monthly or more frequent). 

Regularly scheduled meetings may be preempted by other special events. Regularly scheduled meetings shall not interfere with prescribed Quiet Hours.

Reserve for a meeting

Cancellation of reservations can be made through the cancellation form.

There is no visitor parking at the Chapel. Parking after 5:00 p.m. is permitted, but any parking in that area prior to 5:00 p.m. can result in receiving a parking ticket. Parking passes should be purchased online through Parking and Transportation Services.

Closed Saturdays, all University holidays, home football games, & other major events on campus that impact parking.
