The Pathways to Leadership Conference connects high school students with engaging leadership development experiences led by the Lott Leadership Institute. Hosted on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, this program helps students strengthen leadership skills, explore future opportunities, and discover ways to make a meaningful impact in their schools and communities.

Program Overview
The Pathways to Leadership Conference brings the leadership development experience of the Trent Lott Leadership Institute directly to high school students and communities across the South. Through engaging, interactive sessions led by experienced faculty and leadership professionals, students explore the principles of effective leadership, civic engagement, personal growth, and college readiness in a dynamic and accessible setting.
Designed for emerging student leaders, Pathways to Leadership encourages participants to think critically about their strengths, values, and goals while developing the skills needed to lead with confidence. Students learn how leadership can be applied in their schools, organizations, and communities, gaining practical tools they can use long after the conference ends.
The conference also introduces students to opportunities available through higher education and public service, helping them envision future pathways for leadership and success. By connecting students with university representatives, community leaders, and fellow high-achieving peers, Pathways to Leadership creates an environment that fosters learning, collaboration, and inspiration.
Whether students are already serving in leadership roles or are just beginning to discover their potential, Pathways to Leadership provides a meaningful experience that empowers them to grow, serve, and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Who Should Go
Ambitious 10th and 11th grade students who want to lead, learn, and create positive change will find valuable opportunities at the Pathways to Leadership Conference. Participants develop practical leadership skills, explore future educational opportunities, and connect with peers and mentors who share a commitment to service, growth, and making a difference in their schools and communities.
Nomination Process
Nominated students will automatically receive instructions on how to accept their nomination, and the registration process.
Space is limited to 50 participants, and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools must nominate students by October 31st. Students must register by January 29, 2027.* The registration fee includes two nights of lodging with 1 or 2 other participant(s), 5 meals, and all conference materials, and must be paid online or by check prior to the conference.
*Please note, registrations may close before the posted date if max capacity has been reached.
