Program Overview
The Emerging Leaders Conference is an exciting opportunity for high school students to develop leadership skills, engage with experienced professionals, and connect with other emerging leaders from across Mississippi. Hosted by the Trent Lott Leadership Institute on the University of Mississippi campus, this immersive experience is designed to help students build confidence, prepare for future success, and discover ways to make a positive impact in their schools and communities.
The conference begins Friday evening with hotel check-in and a casual networking reception. On Saturday, students will explore regional leadership across Mississippi by engaging with the diverse perspectives and experiences of professionals and college students. Through comparing these prospectives, students will examine how regional experiences shape leadership and reflect on how they can apply these insights to their own leadership style. Throughout the weekend, students will gain valuable insights, practical skills, and new perspectives from community leaders and current undergraduate students.
Beyond the sessions, students will have the opportunity to build meaningful connections with peers who share a passion for leadership and service. These conversations often lead to lasting friendships, expanded networks, and a stronger understanding of how leadership can make a difference.
Space is limited to 50 participants, and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools must nominate students by October 31st. Students must register by November 6th.* The registration fee includes two nights of lodging with 1 or 2 other participant(s), 5 meals, and all conference materials, and must be paid online or by check prior to the conference.
*Please note, registrations may close before the posted date if max capacity has been reached.
