Welcome to Communiversity!
Communiversity classes are non-credit classes offered by the Division of Outreach that will have you swirling around a dance floor, searching for your ancestors, or traveling solo and loving it and that’s just the beginning. Communiversity programs are open to anyone in the community, including retirees, Ole Miss students, and family members of all ages. Communiversity also partners with the Academic Traveler to offer overnight and day trips to local areas of interest such as the Mississippi Delta, Birmingham, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, etc.
Who May Enroll
Communiversity classes are designed for people of all ages, unless otherwise indicated. These classes do not require admission to the University. If you have any questions about specific classes, please contact the Office of Professional Development and Lifelong Learning at (662) 915-7847 before enrolling.
The University of Mississippi is open year-round (excluding University-observed holidays). Several options for registration are available: online, fax, phone, mail-in and walk-in. Our regular hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Registration opens once the class is scheduled on the calendar. We usually try and close each class one week prior to the first day of each class. Some programs have limited enrollment and are filled on a first-come basis. You must register by the deadline, and, by enrolling early, you ensure your place in the class of your choice. Payment must be made in full before the first day of class unless other arrangements have been made.

Fees are due at the time of registration, whether by mail, fax, phone, online or in person. Payment may be made in cash or by check (payable to the University of Mississippi), money order, or credit card (Visa or MasterCard ONLY). If registering by fax, phone or online, payment must be made using Visa or MasterCard. When paying by credit card, be sure to fill out all appropriate information on the registration form. Please do not send cash through the mail.
If you are currently employed by the University of Mississippi as faculty or staff member, payroll deduction can be utilized in paying your registration fee for classes $60.00 or more.
Professional Development Opportunities for UM Employees:
UM employees who would like to take a course, approved by their home college/school/department, for professional development may receive a *5% discount off the course fee, if 5 or more people from the college/school/department register for the same course. The advertised course fee must be at least $60.
*All fees must be paid by the college/school/department via a G/L transfer to Communiversity in order to be eligible for the discounted rate.
*No other discounts may be used in addition to the group discount of 5%.
*Group discounts do not apply to any materials/supplies fees that are paid directly to the instructor.
Senior (55+) Discount*
Persons 55 years of age or older can take as many non-credit short courses as they like at a 10 percent (10%) discount on any course with a fee of $30 or more. If the fee is $29 or less seniors must pay the full course fee. The fee for seniors is subject to the Division's refund policy. Note that the discount must be requested at the time of registration and that there is only one applicable discount per course.
* Senior discounts do not apply to any fee paid directly to the instructor, such as a supplies fee.
Current students enrolled full-time at the University are eligible for a $5 discount for classes $60 or more. University Student ID may be required at time of enrollment.
