What You'll Do

  • Develop a professional vision and goals document that articulates a five-year post-graduate career trajectory.
  • Identify and evaluate internship, employment, advanced education, and professional development opportunities.
  • Build networking strategies, including informational interviews, to build professional relationships.
  • Gain experience with professional communication, networking, and opportunity-seeking.

What You'll Learn

  • Travel to select sites to meet with state, regional, and/or national employers, professional associations, and/or educational institutions to better understand options and expectations for success.
  • Engage with industry experts, prospective employers, and graduate/professional school administrators to learn about professional and educational opportunities, as well as various career paths to help them chart their post-graduate pathway.

All activities are tentative and subject to change depending on scheduling, booking availability, and course adjustments.

Meet Your Instructors

All Study USA courses are designed and led by Ole Miss faculty. Your instructor(s) will be your first point of contact during your travels and lead you through all the class experiences.

Dr. Julie Glasco

Assistant to the Provost for Strategic Initiatives
jaglasco@olemiss.edu

My research is in Rural Education, and I have a passion for helping students learn about the educational resources available to them. Many students are not aware of the many opportunities they have, such as internships, travel courses, and scholarships.

"I'm interested in providing a non-traditional approach to learning about career opportunities. Students will gain hands on experience of researching career opportunities, as well as meeting professionals and alumni in their career fields."
