The Lott Leadership Institute
21st Annual Summer Leadership Institute for High School Students
The Lott Leadership Summer Institute is a month-long program that offers high school students the opportunity to deepen their engagement with our world and begin to realize their own potential as leaders.
The goals of the program are to develop leadership skills in young citizens and prepare them for college. In order to achieve these goals, the Summer Leadership Institute brings together student leaders from across the United States to earn college credit on the UM campus and to begin the study of leadership.
The benefits of the program include earning college credit while living on campus with other participants from the United States and abroad, acquiring real-world public speaking and networking skills, and meeting with national leaders to dialogue about contemporary public policy issues.
Traditionally, the program includes a visit to Washington, D.C. As more public health information becomes available, program coordinators will make a determination about whether or not to include this portion of the program in 2021.
Application Opens December 1
