Credit Programs

For High School Students

The University of Mississippi offers a variety of credit programs for high-achieving high school students interested in earning college or high school credit (or both!) and experiencing university life prior to high school graduation.

In addition to earning academic credit, students who participate in our programs become familiar with the collegiate environment and develop social and academic skills that will enhance their overall success in college. Our Dual Credit and UM High School programs admit students on a rolling basis and classes can be taken over the course of a regular semester or can be extended through our self-paced independent study options. We also offer summer credit experiences during June and July.

What type of experience best suits your needs?

Credit only

If you’re interested in taking a high school or college course for academic credit in order to catch up, get ahead, or explore personal interests in an academic setting, we have two options:

  • Dual Credit — Earn college credit as a non-degree-seeking UM student by commuting to campus for in-person classes, attending remote or web courses online, or taking asynchronous, self-paced iStudy courses online. Available year-round.
  • ConnectUM — High school juniors and seniors can affordably earn college credit and and gain access to other UM opportunities through our new dual credit program. Apply sophomore or junior year.
  • UM High School — Earn high school credit to transfer to a local school or earn a high school diploma, all online and available year-round.

Credit plus Residential Experience

If you’re interested in high school or college credit and a taste of residential life at UM, our June and July programs include classroom-based opportunities as well as laboratory experiences. These programs involve in-person attendance and offer enrichment opportunities including faculty mentoring, field trips, social programming, and a weekly colloquium series.
