Wonder Walks: Teen Hikes

Location: South Campus Rail Trail aka Whirlpool Trails

If you want your teen active and outside this year, this is the class for them! The great part about hiking is that it is a relaxed, non-competitive way for people to enjoy the outdoors and get some easy exercise. Come spend some quality time with your teen in this will be a hiking-focused class. We will be moving and exploring new trails for the whole 2 hours.

Please note: Wonder Walks welcomes those of all abilities, but in general, participants need to be able to walk for an extended period and navigate, with or without assistance, typical trail obstacles like downed trees.

About the Instructor:

Katie Boyle started Wonder Walks in 2015 and has been introducing kids to the great outdoors ever since. Wonder Walks is an opportunity for kids to get to know the wild world right in their backyards and to feel comfortable and safe in nature.  The goal of Wonder Walks is to foster a basic understanding and respect for all living things and inspire the confidence that learning through self-discovery can provoke. 

Recommended Supplies:

  • Sturdy walking/hiking shoes
  • Clothing suitable for hiking/being outdoors
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Snack
