Beading 101

Date: Tuesdays, September 8, 15, and 22

The class motto: “Until death, all defeat is psychological.”

In this class, you will be making a beaded square. You will draw your own design and then bead it to learn the technique. As we bead, we will also discuss a global history of beading, covering topics and cultural groups such as the beading patterns of the Ndebele tribe, “reading” beads the Zulu way, Sunghir man, the origin of Rosary beads, Zardozi embroidery and more. All materials are provided.

About the Instructor:

Timber Heard is a Mississippi-based sustainable jewelry and handbag creator. Her purses feature hand-beaded designs, and her work has been featured at Paris Fashion Week.
