Testing Policy

OMO students must comply with the Proctored Testing Policy and the DETL Testing Lab Policies for web-based or online courses. If an online or web-based course requires proctored assessments, then it is the responsibility of the individual taking the course to schedule proctored assessments.

How to Schedule an Exam

Many instructors require their online students to take proctored exams. In that case, information about the test dates will be located in the online course materials. Students close to a UM campus are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a proctored exam at the Oxford or regional campuses.

If a student has a work or class conflict or lives outside of the area and cannot take the exam during the times available, all online instructors at UM require students to use ProctorU, a web-based proctoring service, to take their proctored exams. Student are responsible for all ProctorU fees.

Contact us at detl@olemiss.edu if you require additional information or assistance. SEE MORE

If you do not show up for your exam or reschedule your appointment at least two hours prior to your scheduled appointment time, your appointment will be closed and the online appointment system will not allow you to reschedule.

Scheduling an exam in the Distance Education Testing Lab is free for all UM students.  However, students marked as no-show for a scheduled appointment will have to schedule a Make-Up Exam, which has a fee of $20.  Additionally, there is a $20 fee for late scheduling or rescheduling appointments for final exams after a certain date.  Students using ProctorU will incur fees for using this remote proctoring service.

Proctoring Services for Non-University of Mississippi Courses

The UM Online Testing office provides proctoring services for students who are taking tests for other universities. Our office houses computers and is monitored by video cameras. Our testing facility is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during most weeks of the academic year. Our facility is not available during the weeks of midterm and final exams in the fall, spring, and summer semesters, and the University of Mississippi is usually closed for two weeks at the end of December each year.

Utilize our proctoring services.

Complaints Procedure

The University of Mississippi seeks to resolve concerns and complaints in a fair and prompt manner. Current or future UM students who have a complaint may submit their concerns to the appropriate department. Before pursuing external options, students should exhaust internal avenues of complaint resolution.  SEE MORE
