Ole Miss and Oxford Information

About Ole Miss
Founded in 1848, the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss, is the flagship university for the State of Mississippi. A world-class public research university, the institution has a long history of producing leaders in public service, academics and innovative research. With more than 21,500 students, Ole Miss is the state's largest university, with a major medical school, a nationally recognized law school and 15 academic divisions including engineering, pharmacy, and numerous majors in the liberal arts. The University of Mississippi has a variety of academic institutes providing resources and opportunities. These institutes give students insights on global perspectives as they learn to become leaders and receive real-world community-building experience.

Check-in Information

During check-in, student are given their temporary key that will give them access to their housing rooms, their meal card and welcome pack.

Orientation
It is mandatory for all students and a parent to attend orientation. Important information about program policies, rules, financial aid, and safety are presented in this session.
Information regarding time and location of orientation sessions will be emailed at least two weeks before each session begins.

Check-out Steps
For a student to leave the program properly and to avoid extra charges, he/she has to follow the following steps:

  1. Clean and clear his/her bedroom space leaving it in the same conditions he/she received it. Requirements can be found on the “Check-Out Check List Form”
  2. Ask a counselor to check his/her bedroom following the checklist form.
  3. Once a counselor signs the form, the student has officially checked out of the program.

Shuttle

Flying into/from Memphis International Airport
All arrivals and Departures are to and from Memphis International Airport.
We offer airport shuttles free of charge a day or the morning prior to the official arrival date; however, for safety reasons, we do not provide shuttles to flights arriving after 10 pm or departures before 8:00 am. We suggest you plan your flight with enough time. 
For specific questions regarding arrival, please contact our office.
All arriving students will meet at Baggage Claim B at the Memphis International Airport. After providing us with your flight information, you will receive a shuttle confirmation email with details about your shuttle time and an emergency contact number.

Suggested Items to bring

  • Bedding for an extra-large twin bed
  • Personal bath supplies (soap, toothpaste, etc.)
  • Hangers
  • School supplies (notebooks, pens, etc.)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Cleaning supplies (broom, cleaning wipes, toilet brush, etc.)
  • Snacks

We also suggest all students to pack the following items:

  • Personal computer / tablet (if preferred)
  • Comfortable shoes
  • A light jacket
  • An umbrella
  • At least one formal outfit
  • Personal first aid kit and any medication taken regularly
  • A small padlock

*International students are provided with a linen pack with a set of bed sheets, a pillow, a blanket, and a towel upon arrival and they are taken to a local supermarket to get personal bath articles and snacks.
