Rebel Quest

What is Rebel Quest?

Exciting changes are coming under new lead teachers Joanne Bagley McGehee and Katie Naron to Rebel Quest, our day camp for children who are rising 1st through rising 7th graders. Sessions are held on the Ole Miss campus and led by highly qualified University and community instructors. Each week stands alone for registration purposes. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants per session for each day camp program.

Lil’ Rebels: Rising 1st - 4th graders
Junior Rebels: Rising 5th - 7th graders

Rebel Quest is a great way to keep your child’s brain and body active throughout the summer without the pressure of traditional schoolwork. With the 2015 introduction of Lil’ Rebels and Junior Rebels day camps, students will receive programming specific to their age groups. The camps offer hands on learning and exploration, encouraging and motivating critical thinking. Field trips within the community will be a part of each week’s planned activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my child need to bring every day?

Each day your child needs to bring his or her lunch and any special medications that he or she may need, e.g. an asthma inhaler. Children will swim at the Turner Center on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. On those days, children need to bring a swimsuit, towel, and a wet bag to put wet items in.

What should my child wear?

We will be outside and active as much as possible, so your child should wear athletic shoes (which do not include Crocs) and comfortable, casual outfits that are appropriate for outdoor play. Girls should avoid wearing dresses, if possible, and everyone needs sunscreen!

Where will my child be all day?

All over! Children will be going to the Grove each day for outdoor activities, as well as to different athletic facilities in and around the Turner Center. At the beginning of the week, parents will be given the lead instructor's cell phone number in the event of an emergency.

What will my child do all day?

The instructors for Rebel Quest are all certified teachers and have designed a curriculum to entertain and educate your child. Because our instructors have specialized interests, each day of camp will be dynamic and new. We will be moving all day long; they will not be bored!

How will my child be supervised?

The children will have two counselors, one of each gender, with the group at all times, plus the instructor of each given session. All of our staff is CPR/First Aid certified, have submitted to background checks, and have completed the UM Supervision of Minors training.

What if there is an emergency?

In the event of an emergency, counselors and instructors will first attempt to contact the parents, and if they are unavailable, the emergency contact person will be called, as well as any emergency personnel if needed.

If you have any other questions, please call (662) 915-7621 or email rebquest@olemiss.edu.
