. . . I never knew a car could be a prison. When I was a baby I went to my great grandfather’s funeral. G.G. (my grandma) got out of the car and closed the door. She tried to open the door but couldn’t. She went inside to the funeral home and told UncleTuck what had happened. Uncle Tuck called to get a new key. Then G.G. and another man came out to the car.

. . . The man said, “If she starts going to sleep, I’m going to have to break a window with a brick.”

. . . G.G. said “My window!!!”
Finally, they got a new key made and we went inside to finish the funeral. I don’t remember that day but my G.G. does.

“Three Pigs in Luck”
by Hannah

. . . Once upon a time there lived three pigs. Their names were Jelly Belly, Tortito Telli, and Fredo Lelli. Their houses were made out of anything they could find. They were very poor. They desperately needed money and none of the lazy pigs had jobs. The oldest pig Jelly Belly decided they should set out to find jobs. They walked for three whole days to the city. It really took them three days because Jelly Belly took so many stops for food. They practically went bananas over how big the city was.

. . . They split up to look for jobs. They all knew what they wanted to do. But what they didn’t know was that the wolf had heard everything and that he was following Torito Telli. When they met back at the square none of them had jobs so they just decided to form their own jazz band. Jelly Belly had taken Jazz singing lessons. Tortito Telli had taken piano lessons. Fredo Lelli had taken Saxaphone lessons. They made a perfect Jazz band. Tortito Telli saw the wolf. The wolf tried to pounce on him, but before the wolf could do anything Tortito Telli smacked him in the jaw.

. . . Everyone loved the Jazz band. They were such a big hit that they were invited to be on the Ophrah show. They got to be billionaires after 3 days. They bought a huge house and a beautiful red shiny convertible. They built an electric fence around all their house and its acres. The wolf tried to climb over the fence and he got shocked everyone thought he went a little koo-koo in the head. Since then the three billionaires never saw the wolf ever again. The pigs had a lot of luck. They were in Hog Heaven.

. . . The End!!!!!!!!!!

. . . Oh yeah, the pigs also bought a life time supply of chocolate.

“Tuffy and Me”
by Olivia

. . . It was a cold February afternoon, when my dad and I drove up to my granddaddy”s barn. The sad look on my granddaddy’s face scared me. My dad asked, “What is wrong?” My granddaddy said, “GIGI is going to have puppies but something is wrong and she must go to the vet.” So my dad and I put her in his truck, it seemed like forever before we got there. When we got out of the truck we got GIGI out of the truck. We took her in the office, they said, “We will keep her while you and your daughter go eat supper.” So we went to Mi Pueblos. I couldn’t be quiet or eat until my dad’s cell phone rang. It was the vet saying that two of the puppies died, but she was able to save the other two. We left and we went back to the vet. When we got there we saw GiGi and her two puppies. I was so happy.

. . . Then my dad paid the vet and we went home. After we got there we carried them to a stall in the barn where my granddaddy kept hay. Every day I came to my dad’s I went to see them. After their eyes opened we named them. I told my dad he could name the girl, but I wanted to name the boy. Dad named the girl Dixie and I named the boy Samson. He was so tiny I could hold him in both of my hands. He was black and tan. A few months later I asked my dad if I could rename Samson to Tuffy because he growled and he played tuff. Dad said, “Okay”. One day I was watching my granddaddy walk by me. Tuffy was behind him growling. Right then I knew he was special! When I would call Tuffy, he would run as fast as he could to meet me. He would jump up on me and run in circles as fast as he could. On June 17th I was getting ready to leave to go to Northeast College to my writing workshop, Tuffy always came to see me before I left but this time he did not come. I called and called him, but he did not come. I asked my grandmother where he was? I told her to tell me if something had happened to him. That was when she told me that he got out in the highway and a car ran over him. I was very sad. Tuffy will always be special to me.
