Willie Price University Nursery School , which has been educating children for 43 years is located on the first floor of Kinard Hall on the campus of The University of Mississippi. It is operated by The School of Education and is licensed by The Mississippi Department of Health. It provides practical experiences for students enrolled in child development and related courses taught through the University as well as on-site location for faculty and student research, particularly in the areas of psychology, counseling, curriculum development, communicative disorders, and nutrition. The School is open to pre-school children from the University and surrounding community on a first-come basis. To be served, the children must be 3, 4, or 5 years old by September 1 of the perspective year.
Dr. Willie Wilson Price, Professor of Home Economics, was instrumental in developing the Nursery School. Dr. Price served on the faculty of the Department from June, 1961, until her retirement in May,1982. She resided in Fayetteville, Arkansas, until her death in 2004. Dr. Price was an inspiration to offer young children the very best setting for pre-school education.
