Course Description:

The SAT course has been designed to improve existing SAT scores by teaching students different test taking strategies on various test items in an effort to exhibit strengths and weaknesses in taking the SAT.

Required Textbook:

  • CollegeBoard SAT The Official SAT Study Guide (ISBN-10: 0-87447-718-2)

  • Idiot's Guide to Algebra
  • Master the SAT: The Writing Process and the SAT Essay

It is the student's responsibility to order his or her textbook. Online textbook retailers such as Amazon.com, ABEbooks.com, or Half.com usually provide used textbooks at economical prices.

You must make sure you are ordering the exact book required in this syllabus.

Course Objectives include (but are not limited to):

  1. Improve existing SAT score
  2. Teach different test taking strategies
  3. Test students on various items in an effort to show strengths and weaknesses

Course Outline:

This course consists of 5 sections.

Section 1: Welcome Video and Part One

Watch the welcome video
Take a practice SAT from your book and email your teacher the score
Look over the Powerpoints found in the Part One folder
Take the Quizzes

Section 2: Part Two

Look over the Powerpoints found in the Part Two folder Take the Quizzes
3 Section 3: Part Three Look over the Powerpoints found in the Part Three folder
Take the Quizzes
4 Section 4: Part Four Look over the Powerpoints found in the Part Four folder Take the Quizzes
5 Section 5: Essays Look over the Powerpoints found in the Essays folder Write an essay and place it in the drop box.

Grading Scale:

Viewing Grades in HS

Points you receive for graded activities will be posted to the HS Grade Book. Click on the My Grades link on the first navigation page to view your scores.

Final grades assigned for this course will be based on the percentage of total points earned as follows:

  • Practice SAT exams: 40%
  • Lesson Quizzes: 50%
  • Essays: 10%
