Hi, and welcome to this independent study course in Nutrition and Wellness.

I am a graduate of Delta State University with a M.Ed. in PE, Health, and Recreation and Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision. I currently teach PE in the Tupelo Public School District. My wife Catherine is a teacher and we have 2 boys, Garrett and John Patrick. I enjoy baseball, fishing, and traveling.

Course Description:

Learn how to fuel your body, maintain your emotional and physical health, and find your way around the grocery store and kitchen in Nutrition and Wellness. This course prepares you for a healthy life and provides you with the essential skills you need to plan and make healthy and delicious meals for you, your family, and your friends. You’ll learn how to budget for your meals, shop for groceries, and fit cooking into a busy schedule of school, work, and other responsibilities.

Required Textbook:

For this course, you will not need to order a textbook. All reading material is found in each unit.

  • Understand the importance of nutrition to your overall well-being.

93 - 100% = A
85 - 92% = B
75 - 84% = C
70 - 74% = D
Below 69% = F

The grading format is as follows:

Minor Grades: 50% (Quizzes & Text Questions) 
Major Grades: 30% (Lab Questions & Final Project)
Mid-Term & Final Exams 20%
