Instructor Information:

Hi! I am Ashley Bryan-Summers, and I have taught every possible math course from 8th grade to AP Calculus since 2008.

I have a Master's degree in Mathematics from Mississippi College, and I currently teach at Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, MS in addition to my classes with UMHS.

I am a mom/step-mom of 3 awesome kiddos and in my (very rare) spare time I love to cook, read, and make jewelry.

Course Description:

The fundamental purpose of the course in Geometry is to formalize and extend studentsí geometric experiences from the middle grades. Students explore more complex geometric situation and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments.

Grading Scale:

93 - 100% = A
85 - 92% = B
75 - 84% = C
70 - 74% = D
Below 69% = F

The grading format is as follows:

Quizzes = 40%
Each chapter has one or two quizzes. They will cover a small amount of material and be graded when submitted. You may use your notes and textbook as needed, but study and be prepared before you start. Each quiz may only be taken ONCE.

Chapter Assignments = 10%
Most chapters have an assignment at the end that will allow you to demonstrate knowledge of the chapterís content. Each of these assignments will have you work specific problems in the textbook and submit your work. EMAIL your instructor once you are finished with each so they can be graded as quickly as possible.

Unit Tests = 30%
Tests will be at the end of every unit. These tests will cover all concepts in the unit, but skills from previous units may be needed to complete the problems. Each Unit Test may be taken up to TWO times and the average of the two attempts will be used. Unit Tests must be PROCTORED. You may use basic calculators, but text programmable calculators are not allowed to be used during exams.

Final Exam = 20%
The final exam is comprehensive and may be taken up to TWO times and the average of the two attempts will be used. The final exam must be PROCTORED. You may use basic calculators, but text programmable calculators are not allowed to be used during exams.
