ASL is a four-week beginner course designed for those who are interested in learning sign language by seeking to accomplish the following: 1) to improve the channels of communication between the deaf/hard of hearing and the hearing community; 2) to promote the interest of individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing and their families; 3) to provide equal access to communication for individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing within the community and the educational setting; and 4) foremost, to improve the quality of life for deaf people and allow them more access to the larger community. After the final class, a dinner will be scheduled to allow students to practice their signing skills.

This class is designed to introduce students to conversational sign language. Students will build on grammatical skills introduced in the beginning American Sign Language course, such as utilizing the ASL alphabet to improve fingerspelling skills and expanding vocabulary skills. Learn the fundamentals of beginning conversational Spanish for those planning to travel to Spanish-speaking countries or needing Spanish as a conversational tool for clients, students or employees. In additional to learning correct pronunciations, you will also learn basic greetings and phrases to assist you in simple conversations regarding directions, ordering food, inquiring about prices, time, calendar, numbers, health, transportation, and much, much more. This class is perfect for Health Care Professionals ( Doctors, Nurses, Medical Assistants, Staff), Educators ( Teachers, Principals, Counselors, Staff) and the Construction Industry ( Supervisors, Workers, Contractors).

Want to learn more about stained glass? Then join us for this class designed to build on our basic stained glass class. Students will be given the opportunity to create a three-dimensional box using bevels. There will be a variety of patterns from which to choose to create a hinged lid using pressed jewels and stained glass. Students will need to bring the tools and supplies distributed in the Summer Basics class. Additional glass and supplies will be available, as well. Please note: to register for this class, you must have completed the Beginners class taught by this instructor. Limit of 12 so register early! Lunch break provided.

Basic steps will be taught for the traditional method of cutting and putting together a stained glass window using the copper-foil method in this beginner’s class. The romance and elegance of “touch dancing” is back. With the success of "Dancing With The Stars," ballroom dancing is more popular than ever! If Jerry Springer and Emmitt Smith can do it—anyone can! This six-week series will introduce the most popular social dances including (but not limited to) the Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, Swing, Foxtrot and more. These classes are designed for those who have had no previous dance experience or instruction, as well as for those who want to brush up on their basics. Bring a friend to receive a “Partners Discount.” Limited enrollment for singles, as well. This class is fun, fun, fun, and a great way to meet new friends or score major points with your spouse!

Celebrate the holiday season by creating beautiful floral designs under the guidance of a floral design expert. This is a hands-on class that allows beginning and experienced participants to practice their floral technique using seasonal decor. Topics for each class include: Nov. 12 "Fall is Fun," Nov. 19 "Thanksgiving Table, " Nov. 26 "Rejuvenate your holiday decor, " and Dec. 3 " Holiday Party Time." Students are taught to incorporate the season's natural bounty, such a vegetables, leaves, and berries, growing naturally throughout the holidays. Supplies will be provided at an extra cost. Students will create their own holiday creations to take home after each class!

This multimedia course will include eBay's own training materials and will cover selling basics and beyond, including research, opening and using a Paypal account, improving listings with better descriptions and digital photography, security and post-sale activities, such as billing and shipping. Using Windows XP with Window's Movie Maker can turn your ho-hum home movies into Hollywood productions—or, at the very least, a better blockbuster for your family's enjoyment. Using your mini DVD camera, digital camera, and photographs, you can tell your family's story or do an MTV-like video of your child's life (or any special event) right on your computer. Burn it to DVD for easy sharing and playback on your home DVD player. Participants will learn how to edit film for clarity and flow, add professional fades, wipes, and other transitions, and how to add a soundtrack and titles—all while having fun! Lunch break provided.

Experience the Memphis Brooks Museum’s new exhibition “ Pissarro: Creating the Impressionist Landscape.”The Brooks will be the only venue in the South to host this showcase commemorating the first, most revolutionary stage in the career of Impressionist pioneer Camille Pissarro. After lunch at the museum’s famed Brushmark Café, we’ll enjoy the fun side of Memphis arts in the heart of the Downtown Arts District. T he RiverArtsFest, hosted on historic South Main Street, is a new collaboration between Experience Art in Memphis (formerly Arts in the Park) and the South Main Association . This first annual festival features a juried exhibition in fine art, youth art show, artists market, live entertainment, culinary delights from downtown restaurants, and children's art activities.

Journey to beautiful Monteagle mountain and tour the history-filled burgs that make this mountain unique. Home to many scenic and uncommercialized jewels on the southern Cumberland Plateau, our tour of the mountain will include Sewanee’s University of the South, Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, Beersheba Springs United Methodist Assembly, the beauty of South Cumberland State Park, the original site of the Swiss colony in Gruetli, and Russell Cave National Monument in nearby Bridgeport, Alabama. To complement the rustic nature of many of our activities, we will be indulging ourselves with accommodations at the Edgeworth Inn, a bed and breakfast located on the private grounds of the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly. This trip is a history & nature lover’s dream. While activities will not be strenuous, please be prepared for a lot of walking.
