Kids' Kamps

Advanced Etiquette (Boys and Girls ages 8-11)

Register.

Practicing good character, treating others with respect, and being polite are behaviors that come from the heart.Your boys and girls will participate in many fun role-playing activities, arts and crafts and games, as well as learn the social graces to become well rounded individuals. Topics of study include social skills, party manners, telephone/cell phone manners, casual/formal dining etiquette, and writing meaningful thank-you notes. Students will showcase their new skills with a Parent/Student Tea at the end of the week.

Elementary Engineering I

Register.

Using very advanced LEGO® parts and pieces, this class is appropriate for children 8 years and up. Children will learn by doing. Course covers gears, levers, wheels, axles, structures, forces and simple machines. Let your budding engineer have some fun this summer!

Golf “Fore” Kids

Register.

Golf lessons for young and beginning golfers. Lessons will teach basic fundamentals of golf, a knowledge of the sport, rules of the game, and golf etiquette. Lessons are for ages 7-12 year olds.

Junior Engineering I

Manners 4 Minis (Boys and Girls ages 4—1st grade)

Learning manners the fun way is the only way! Manners 4 Minis is creative, interactive and very hands-on. This program focuses on table manners, party manners, thank-you notes, manners in the home, and simple etiquette through puppet shows, games, songs, coloring workbooks and much more. Students will showcase their new skills with a Parent/Student Tea at the end of the week.

Sign Language for Kids

Have a friend or relative who is deaf or hard of hearing or just want to learn a fun, new way of communicating? Learn the rich language of American Sign Language, taught especially for kids. It’s as easy as A-B-C! Suggested ages: 7-12 years old

Arts & Hobbies

Christmas in July Stained Glass

Register.

Calling all beginner and experienced students for a little holiday fun in July. Beginners will be taught the traditional method of cutting and putting together a stained glass window using the copper foil method. Participants will choose a Christmas theme pattern and complete one project. Previous students will complete multiple Christmas projects that can be used for gifts. Engraved bevels with a Christmas theme will be used in some of the projects. Previous students will need to bring tools from Beginner Class. Supplies for beginners are included in fee.

Computers

The Basics of eBay Selling

Register.

Learn to make a supplemental or full-time income from an eBay-trained Certified Education Specialist .   This multimedia course will include eBay's own training materials and will cover selling basics and beyond, including research, opening and using a Paypal account, improving listings with better descriptions and digital photography, security and post-sale activities, such as billing and shipping. Avoid frustrating hours of tedious instructions.  Trial and error is error. Learn from a long-time successful seller.

An optional book is available from the instructor for $20, payable on day of class. However, the instructor will be referring to the book during class, and it is a great reference tool for the future. Lunch break provided.

Introduction to MS Office - Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (CEUs available)

Learn how to use the MS Office suite to your advantage. Whether for personal use or business use, participants will be confident of their skills in any of these Office family products after this class. Lunch break provided. Choose from one of the following sessions:

American Sign Language (CEUs available)

Register.

Over 22 million people use American Sign Language daily, making it the third most common language in North America. ASL is a four-week beginner course designed for those who are interested in learning basic sign language to improve communication with the deaf/hard of hearing community. After the final class, a dinner will be scheduled to allow students to practice their signing skills. Students must attend all sessions, including the dinner, to be eligible for CEUs.

Intermediate American Sign Language

This class is designed to introduce students to conversational sign language. Students will build on grammatical skills introduced in the beginning American Sign Language course, such as utilizing the ASL alphabet to improve fingerspelling skills and expanding vocabulary skills. After the final class, a dinner will be scheduled to allow students to practice their signing skills.

Students must attend all sessions , including the dinner, to be eligible for CEUs.

Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture

Learn basic Japanese conversational skills beyond sushi and sayonara! Interactive lessons will introduce students to common greetings, basic vocabulary, and Japanese customs. Understanding Japanese culture is a very important tool for using the language correctly. A brief introduction to writing in Japanese will also be presented.

Ace the ACT!

Register.

Ace the ACT! is a one-day course designed to teach students key strategies in taking the American College Test (ACT). The class includes helpful hints in how to take the test (and most standardized tests) by reviewing all sections tested and key math formulas used most often on the ACT. Participants should bring a pencil and a desire to improve their scores. Limit of 30. Please note—this class usually fills several weeks before class date so register now!
