What?
- Learn about the history of Biltmore Estate, historic home of the Vanderbilt family and architectural masterpiece of celebrated architect Richard Morris Hunt
- Guided visit of the Biltmore House and self-guided tour of the Biltmore Gardens, designed by landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmstead, designer of New York’s Central Park
- Roundtable discussion with representatives from food service management, lodging management, and marketing departments at the Biltmore
- Presentations by Biltmore staff covering quality service management, guest expectations, and partnership development
- Behind-the-scenes tour of operations of this historic site
- Lunch with representatives from Conference Services to discuss catering, weddings, and event planning at the Biltmore Estate
Where?
Students will spend four nights at an Asheville area hotel (to be determined) and the final night at the Inn on the Biltmore Estate.
Who?
This program is for Hospitality Management students and others interested restaurants, design, marketing, and the tourism industry.
When?
The program dates are May 14-15 on the Oxford campus, and May 19-24 near Asheville, North Carolina.
How?
Students will make individual travel arrangements to Asheville, North Carolina. Once at the site, group ground transportation via van will be provided.
How much?
Program cost is $2195 for residents and $2395 for non-residents. Included in the cost are tuition, housing, tours, selected group meals, and group ground transportation in Asheville. The Study USA application fee, airfare, meals other than those noted above, and personal spending money are excluded from the course fee.
