All UM students applying to a UM-approved Study Abroad program are invited to apply for the Study Abroad Office Scholarship. Awards vary from $500 to full tuition and are issued to students studying in any term.
To be eligible for the Study Abroad Office Scholarship students must be a degree-seeking UM student, have a current FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office, and have not previously received the scholarship. To apply students must complete the Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application. The Study Abroad Office Scholarship deadline for Summer and Fall 2008 is March 19. Schools within rthe University of Mississippi have seen how an experience abroad enriches their student body. To encourage more semester abroad experiences, two schools on campus have collaborated with the Study Abroad Office to build the Dean's Global Initiative.
Each semester, students in the School of Business Administration and the School of Applied Sciences have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship that offers funding for a semester of study to students who have demonstrated a high level of achievement in their major. Each school has a list of "best fit" exchange universities for students to choose from. Rose Bui was a Croft Institute for International Studies and Honors College student at Ole Miss from 2001-04. In her short tenure at the university she was a leader both on campus and nationally. She received the David L. Boren Scholarship to study abroad in 2004. It was during her semester abroad in China that she was diagnosed with lymphoma. She returned to the University to complete her studies and receive treatment. In the Spring 2005 semester she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and named to Who’s Who and the University’s Hall of Fame. She died in June 2005.
The Rose Bui Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad was created to honor Rose’s commitment to international education and her role as a conscious global citizen. The scholarship is open to students studying through a UM program in Asia. Applicants must fill out a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application and turn in a completed UM application for study abroad in order to be considered. Award recipients will be selected based on their academic merit and essay and will receive $1000 for semester study or $500 for short-term study.

Northwest Airlines has selected The University of Mississippi to launch the World Travel Scholarship Program. Six scholarships each academic year will be awarded to students studying abroad with the University of Mississippi. Students awarded the scholarship will receive a round trip airline ticket to any city served by Northwest Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines or KLM cityhopper. Candidates will be considered on the basis of financial need and academic merit. In order to apply students must complete a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application, available in the Study Abroad Office, and they must have a current FAFSA on file at the Financial Aid Office at The University of Mississippi. Ole Miss’ partnership with some study abroad providers brings with it financial aid for students who study on whose programs. Four of those partners are:
Study Abroad Italy
Students who apply to one of three SAI sites (Rome, Florence or Sicily) are eligible to receive scholarships to apply to the cost of their programs. Applicants must turn in a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application and complete UM and SAI applications to be considered for the scholarships. Award recipients will be selected based on financial need and academic merit. Scholarships range from $250 to $500 for a semester abroad.

IFSA-Butler
Students who apply to study abroad on an IFSA-Butler program may apply for a partial scholarship to help fund their study abroad experience. Applicants must turn in a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application and completed UM and IFSA-Butler applications to be considered for the scholarships. Award recipients will be selected based on financial need and academic merit. Scholarships will be awarded in the following amounts: $500 for summer, $1000 for semester, or $2000 for full year.

IES
Students enrolled at the University of Mississippi are eligible to receive a fee waiver of $1500 on any semester IES program. Students planning to take advantage of this offer should notify their Study Abroad Advisor at the time of application so that the waiver can be applied to the program’s cost. Students should complete a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application as well as their UM and IES applications to be eligible for this program.

IUSI
Students who apply to study abroad on the Mexican Studies program in Queretaro Mexico are eligible to receive a need-based scholarship of up to $1500 for a semester abroad. The scholarship is designed to bridge the gap for students whose financial aid is insufficient to cover the cost of participating in the program. Minimum requirements are a 3.0 GPA, B average in all Spanish classes and a commitment to off-campus service once the student returns to the University of Mississippi. To qualify for this award students must turn in a Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application as well as an additional IUSI scholarship application that can be picked up in the Study Abroad Office.
