Digital Photography on Safari

This course is a two week intensive on-site studio course that focuses on travel photography in Tanzania.  The specific emphasis will be wildlife and cultural photography.  Students will learn the basics of digital photography, camera mechanics, and camera functions while creating a portfolio of images that focus on one main area of interest.  Additionally, students will learn about the cultural and ecological history of the host country, which will contribute to the image-making process.

  • This program is open to all students but is particularly geared toward art majors.
  • Learn more about Tanzania.
  • Required Supplies: 8 megapixel digital camera, 2 2gigabyte flash cards, extra batteries for camera, external hard drive for storage, electricity converters, 100-300 mm lens, tripod, lens cleaner.
  • Students may also bring a personal laptop, but it is only necessary if the student wants full access to a computer for downloading photos. Internet service will not be available.
