Lott Leadership Exchange – South Africa

The Lott Leadership Exchange Program is an opportunity exclusively for rising Sophomores who display academic and community leadership. There is a selective application process for the program with a limit of 10 students for each country. Students will have the opportunity to work with international partners in the United States and abroad for 5 weeks during the summer. Students will also participate in activities related to the program during the Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 terms. Students will be enrolled in US 311, an ABCDF-graded course for 3 hours of credit.

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University is our exchange partner for this amazing opportunity. The first two weeks of the program will focus on community leadership through activities in the Southeastern United States and Washington, D.C. The second half of the program will take place in South Africa, leading students on a journey through Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and more locations to study multi-cultural leadership. UM students will work with NMMU students on volunteer projects in the communities they visit to give back as they learn from the people they meet.
