Themes from the Diasporic African Music Cultures

Explore the African influence on selected music traditions while touring symbolic and historical sites in Ghana. Discover Ghana’s diverse expressive cultural forms, social life, and other landscapes link the continent of Africa to descendants of Africa around the world. The course, taught by UM faculty member Dr. George Dor, will also afford students the opportunity to experience Panafest during Ghana’s 50 th anniversary celebration. Students will earn 3 hours of credit for MUS 330 or AAS 350.
