Lott Leadership Exchange - China

The Lott Leadership Exchange Program is an opportunity exclusively for rising Sophomores who display academic and community leadership. There is a selective application process for the program with a limit of 10 students for each country. Students will have the opportunity to work with international partners in the United States and abroad for 5 weeks during the summer. Students will also participate in activities related to the program during the Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 terms. Students will be enrolled in US 311, an ABCDF-graded course for 3 hours of credit.

Nanjing University is our exchange partner for this intriguing journey. The first two weeks of the program will focus on the economics, politics, and culture of the United States through activities in the Southeastern United States and Washington, D.C. The second half of the program will give students the opportunity to learn about those same institutions through visits to Shanghai, Nanjing, and Beijing, China. UM students will work with NU students on group projects designed to acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of each system and determine how the two countries can work together in the future.
