*Only available to full-year students; scholarship will apply to one semester only
Final scholarship amount will be determined based on the student's need and financial aid package at The University of Mississippi. The intention of the scholarship is to cover program fees not already covered by a student's current scholarships.
Scholarships are limited to one student per international university, per semester. No language experience is necessary as business courses at each university are taught in English. Students should talk with the Study Abroad Office early about their semester plans and the scholarship, but at least by the semester before they plan to study abroad.
Students must study abroad at the university to which the scholarship is offered or the scholarship offer will be rescinded. It is suggested that students rank the universities available on their scholarship application so that the scholarship committee can better match students with universities.
The scholarship committee will review all applications and nominate one student for placement at each university, taking into consideration all students' applications and university rankings.
To be considered for the Dean's Global Initiative, students must meet the following requirements:
Students should visit the Study Abroad Office at least one semester prior to their intended study abroad experience in order to prepare for and be considered for the scholarship.
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit the following:
Students must also have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office.
Once nominated for the scholarship, students must submit any application materials required by the international university. The Study Abroad Office will advise students as to what materials are required by the exchange university. Students must be accepted by the international university in order to receive the scholarship.
Selection of scholarship receipients is initially based on a student's academic merit and financial need. All applications from students demonstrating these qualities will then be evaluated by a committee. The committee will determine which university a student will be nominated to and the amount of scholarship. Announcement of individual scholarship awards will be made by e-mail to each student within two weeks of the application deadline.
Students will have one week to notify the Study Abroad Office of their desire to accept the award and finalize paperwork to submit it to the exchange university. If a student declines an award, a student who was not selected in the first round of evaluations may receive the scholarship instead.
Students should submit all required paperwork no later than October 24, 2007, to study abroad during the Spring 2008 semester. Applications should be submitted no later than March 19, 2008, for the Fall 2008 or Academic Year 2008-2009 terms.
Students should speak with a Study Abroad Advisor regarding their intention to apply for the scholarship and university of choice as early as possible, but at least during the term prior to their intended experience abroad.
