The Lonely Planet Spain Travel Guide contains travel information, advice, hotels, reviews, maps and itineraries.
Spain is a country located mostly in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. The Spanish mainland is bordered to the south and east almost entirely by the Mediterranean Sea (except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar); to the north by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal. Spanish territory also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast, and two autonomous cities in North Africa, Ceuta and Melilla, that border Morocco. MORE
Students with a strong command of Spanish can take courses in business administration, economics, education, engineering, or sociology; Spanish language and culture classes for 12 hours per semester are open to students with intermediate–level Spanish skills.
Graduate with more than a degree. Graduate with an understanding of life in organizations, a sense of local and global communities, professional-level experience, and networks and connections.
Madrid is a thriving metropolis of close to 6 million, filled with pubs, cafes, and clubs. Spain is also drenched in the historical pageantry of empire and conquistadors, the artistic legacy of Goya, Velázquez, Picasso, and Dalí, and the romance of Don Quijote, Papa Hemingway, and the International Brigades.
This program offers opportunities to intern with major companies such as Mercedes, Telefónica, Merck-Sharp, as well as leading hotels and newspapers such as El Mundo. This is a great option if you have completed at least 4 semesters of college-level Spanish.
Through our exchange agreements you can spend a semester or year abroad. Students who study abroad on an exchange pay University of Mississippi tuition and fees for the semester that they’re abroad and remain enrolled as UM students.
Independent students will find this type of program offers them the greatest connection with the culture and people of the country in which they are studying. The advantages to exchange programs are that students enjoy a high level of independence at a low cost. To learn more about how exchange programs work, click here.

The advantages of a Faculty-Led Program are that you can take 3 hours of credit in 3 weeks or 6 hours in 4 weeks while visiting a new country. Because courses are offered during winter and summer terms, you won’t miss any semester requirements – plus, spending time with a professor abroad may help you garner a good recommendation for graduate school or a job.
