Financial Aid and Scholarship Information

The School of Business recognizes the great benefits to be gained from study abroad.  Therefore, in its 2005 strategic plan, the School set the goal of having 10 percent of its student body studying abroad by 2006.  To help students finance study abroad, the School of Business and Ole Miss Study Abroad have several study abroad funding programs.

In most cases, students may apply their student financial aid package and many scholarships to international study programs.  Check with the Study Abroad and/or Financial Aid for more information on how to apply your financial aid to study abroad.

From the Office of Financial Aid

All students should review carefully the Study Abroad information on the Ole Miss Financial Aid Home page - click here.

Also, for a listing of alternative loan programs, see the Ole Miss Financial Aid Alternative Loans page - click here.

Study Abroad Scholarships

How do you apply?

Write a brief essay (300 words) explaining why this study abroad experience will benefit your academic program. Also include a brief budget including cost of program, airfare, extra expenses, any existing financial aid, your contribution, and the amount you are requesting. Be sure to include the program you are choosing and your email address so we can contact you.

Who is eligible?

Any degree-seeking University of Mississippi student who is participating in a University of Mississippi study abroad program is eligible to apply. We cannot award scholarships to students participating in other universities’ programs. Also, you are not eligible if you have already received a scholarship from the Study Abroad Office. You must have on file in our Financial Aid Office a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We will not consider your application unless your FAFSA is complete and current.

When is the application due?

The Study Abroad Office Scholarship is due one week before the application deadline. No applications will be considered after this time.
