How To Apply
Once you have selected a Study Abroad program, it's easy to apply. UM students should follow the steps below.
Not a UM student? Not a problem. Click here for information on how to apply as a visiting student.
- Be sure you meet the program requirements. All applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be in academic and disciplinary good standing
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
Some programs have additional requirements. Check your program's web page or contact your Study Abroad Advisor for more information. If your GPA is below 2.5, please read more about the GPA petition process.
- Complete and submit a Ole Miss Study Abroad Application Form and related paperwork. Applications can be picked up and dropped off in 359 Martindale, or mailed to Study Abroad Office, 359 Martindale, PO Box 187, University, MS 38677. The following materials are required in order to apply for a Study Abroad program:

- Select the appropriate application for your program:
- Unofficial UM Transcript
- Copy of Passport
Some programs require additional materials. Check your program's web page or contact your Study Abroad Advisor for more information.
- Each student is required to complete a Course Approval Form. This form is an agreement between you, campus departments, your dean, and the Study Abroad Office to grant credit for your time abroad. This form is part of your Study Abroad Application but can also be downloaded seperately here. Select the appropriate form for your program:
- If you would like to apply for a schloarship through the Study Abroad Office, download the Study Abroad Office Scholarship Application. Be sure to have your completed Ole Miss Study Abroad Application in the office by the scholarship deadline or your scholarship application will not be considered.
- Once your application has been reviewed, you will be notified of your acceptance by a Study Abroad Advisor. Most initial notfications are made by e-mail so it's important to check your "@olemiss.edu" e-mail address often.
- Before the end of the semester you will be required to complete two orientations. The first orientation is offered online and takes about 45 minutes to complete. You will be notified by e-mail when this orientation opens. The second orientation is on campus and will cover information particular to your program. The time and date of this orientation will be announced by e-mail prior to the application deadline and posted online.
