Widely acclaimed for its innovations in art, design, and architecture, Veritas is located in the heart of San Jose, the capital city of a country famous for its tropical rain forests, beautiful beaches, and unique wildlife. Veritas' campus maintains a comfortable and familiar atmosphere in close proximity to the urban center. Dedicated to the exchange of creative thought and multiculturalism, Veritas provides UM students the opportunity to learn from and with Costa Rican students. The International Programs Department (DPI) provides students assistance with course registration, organizing tours, and coordinating homestays. The direct enrollment program allows students to study for one extra month at Veritas, and to diversify their selections of course electives.
Students will take 6 hours of intensive Spanish language the first month, and then will select from electives taught in Spanish and English, and Spanish language courses, enrolling in the equivalent of 12 semester hours. Elective courses include Environmental Studies, Intercultural Communication for Business, and Costa Rican Literature. Additional course information is available online. The Study Abroad Office and student's advisor will assist the student with determining appropriate course equivalencies.
A passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling to Costa Rica. A visa is also required for semester and all-year study.
