Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University - Exchange

Located within minutes of the coast of the Indian Ocean Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is an engaging and people-centered university located in the midst of diverse communities. Focused on promoting internationalization and fostering multiethnic and multicultural understanding, NMMU is an ideal study site for UM students interested in learning about the amazing diversity of South African culture while studying areas as diverse as international relations, education, journalism, political science, and exercise science.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Junior standing
  • 18 years old
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing at UM

COURSES

Students will select courses from a variety of departments including: Education, Journalism, Political Science, Exercise Science, and South African History, enrolling in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS

A passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling to South Africa. A visa is also required for semester and all-year study.
