This course explores the unique and interesting business practices in South Africa at a pivotal time in the nation's development. Students will be given the opportunity to observe business strategy in a transitional economy, as South Africa moves from its colonial past (complete with big game safaris) to its global future (with game reserves and multinational corporations comingled with emerging local/regional small- and medium-sized businesses). The course will also explore the burgeoning beach/tourism industry in South Africa.
The course, taught by UM School of Business Dean Dr. Brian Reithel, is open to all students but is specifically geared toward business majors. Students will earn 3 hours of credit for BUS 380, an ABCDF-graded course.
A passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling to South Africa. A visa is also required for semester and all-year study.
INFORMATION REGARDING FINANCIAL AID, HEALTH INSURANCE, ORIENTATION, AND THE WITHDRAWAL & REFUND POLICY IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AND AT THE STUDY ABROAD OFFICE.
