Education Classroom

One of the most unique national parks on the planet, the Galapagos Archipelago, is the perfect place for a teacher to build a "traveling trunk" to bring back to is or her classroom. The program will offer you firsthand exposure to giant tortoises over 100 years old, scuba diving, and marine reserves where you can see hammerhead sharks and endemic bird speciest.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years old
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing at UM

COURSE

The course, taught by UM faculty member Debbie Chessin, is designed to meet in-service needs of Mississippi school districts. Students will earn 3 hours of credit for EDUC 333 or EDUC 555, an ABCDF-graded course.

PASSPORTS AND VISAS

A passport is required for U.S. citizens traveling to Ecuador. No visa is required for a short-term stay.

INFORMATION REGARDING FINANCIAL AID, HEALTH INSURANCE, ORIENTATION, AND THE WITHDRAWAL & REFUND POLICY IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AND AT THE STUDY ABROAD OFFICE.

Note: The University reserves the right to adjust the cost should there be a significant fluctuation in the exchange rate. It also reserves the right to cancel any programs due to lack of participation or safety issues.
