teachers for tomorrow’s education environment. Student members enjoy
many of the same benefits and membership advantages as the active professional
member in the classroom. A member receives state and national representation,
liability protection, and financial benefits with credit cards, home mortgages,
and insurance. Workshops and conferences are also a wonderful opportunity.

Student Social Work Organization
The Student Social Work Organization is a volunteer group
through which students can develop a support network of peers, develop
skills in organization, leadership, and volunteerism, and provide
social work visibility within DeSoto County. The organization
will begin for the first time on the DeSoto Center campus Spring 2005.
Social Work majors from Tupelo, DeSoto, and Oxford campuses will be
working together to build a strong student organization. Please
contact the DeSoto Center office if you are interested
in this new organization at (662) 342-4765.
March 2005 the Student Social Work Organization celebrated Social
Work month by service projects and career exploration. A display and
campus campaigning gave students and faculty more insight in to the
Social Work profession. Others could learn about the many aspects of
a job as a Social Worker. The theme for the month as "Compassion In
Action". Desoto Center students, faculty, and staff donated diapers
and baby wipes to the DeSoto County Family and Children's Services.
