PRE-REQUISITE COURSE REQUIRMENTS

The lower division is comprised of the following courses, which are pre-requisite for the upper division of the baccalaureate program. A minimum of 63 semester hours is required.

NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS

A minimum of eight (8) courses (27 semester hours) is required. Science survey courses or mathematics and science courses designed for non-science majors are not acceptable for transfer credit.

Prerequisite Courses

Required Courses  
Chemistry: 8 semester hours

Must include two general chemistry courses with labs.

General Chemistry I with lab - 4 semester hours
General Chemistry II with lab - 4 semester hours

Microbiology: One course with a laboratory.
4 semester hours

Human Anatomy and Physiology

Two course in sequence with labs, which include the study of structure and function of the human body.
6-8 semester hours
College Algebra or higher level math 3 semester hours

Introduction to computer use - Not a programming course.

3 semester hours
Statistics

Includes an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics, including measures of central tendency, variability, correlation, t-tests, z-tests, ANOVA, chi square, hypothesis testing, p-levels, and confidence intervals.

Psychosocial Sciences: A minimum of six (6) courses (18 semester hours)

General Psychology 3 semester hours
Introductory Sociology 3 semester hours

Human Growth and Development throughout the Life Cycle:

  • In a senior college, Developmental Psychology (3 semester hours), to include development from infancy through old age.
  • In a junior college, Human Growth and Development (3 semester hours), to include development from infancy through old age.

*Marriage and Family

Course about family living or marriage and the family.

3 semester hours
*Nutrition: 3 semester hours

*Strongly recommended: if not taken, replace with a Psychosocial Elective

None of the required courses listed, described or recommended above may be met by the following: courses in physical training, military science, or dogmatic religion; course credit granted without college level testing

Note: Credit by exam (excluding science courses with labs) is accepted if credit is posted on the official college/university transcript.
