Professional MBA makes graduate degrees possible for full-time workers.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – DeSoto County and Mid-South professionals who would like to further their career by earning a graduate degree, but can’t seem to find the time to return to school, now have the opportunity to gain their master’s of business administration (MBA) degree through The University of Mississippi School of Business’ online program.

The professional MBA program is designed to meet the needs of working adults who would like to complete a graduate business degree that works into their own schedule. One of the requirements is two years of post-bachelors work experience, and candidates in the program will complete two courses each semester over a two-year period.

An information session for all interested individuals will be held on Monday, August 6, at 12 noon and again at 6 p.m. at The University of Mississippi-DeSoto campus in The DeSoto Center at 5197 W.E. Ross Parkway off of Church Road.

“We are using current and emerging technology to distribute the content of these courses,” said Dr. John Holleman, director of the MBA program. “Instead of being in the physical classroom, we’ll use a variety of distance learning capabilities, including the Internet.”

The professional MBA is taught by the same faculty as the traditional on-campus MBA, and it requires the same level of effort and dedication. The curriculum focuses on developing analytical skills, while classes include statistics, global business, managerial communication and business decision making, among others.

Another advantage of the professional MBA is that your location is not a problem. “This program is open to everyone, without regard to geography. You could live anywhere and earn your MBA from Ole Miss,” Holleman said. “It’s also a way for alumni to be involved with us, or even if you are new to Ole Miss. As long as you have web access, you can participate.”
