Abstract Guidelines

We expect to publish all abstracts in an electronic conference program booklet. When submitting your abstract, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Abstract texts should be one-two paragraphs, no longer than 250 words in length.
  • You should use Times New Roman font, 12 pt.
  • Do not include references or in-text citations in your abstract.
  • Italicize genus/species names following scientific conventions.
  • Abstracts should include the name/s of your faculty mentor and his/her title.
  • Abstracts should be error free and grammatically correct, we will not check for errors nor correct the grammar.

Oral Presentation Guidelines

Oral presentations will be organized into 55 - minute long panels with three presenters in each panel. Each presenter is allotted 12 minutes for delivery and a Q&A from the audience will follow after all three panelists have presented. There will be a moderator for each panel who will introduce presenters, assist with technical issues, and monitor the time. Presenters will receive a 3-minute and 1-minute warning to wrap up the presentation via a private chat.

All presenters must download and install the latest version of the Zoom desktop application. Zoom requires a stable internet connection, speakers, a microphone, and webcam. PowerPoint presentations are recommended. Presenters will be made “co-hosts” of the Zoom meeting to allow for screen sharing when time to present. Please arrive at your virtual presentation room early. If you are late or miss your scheduled time, you will not be allowed to present later.
