JumpStart Scholarship

ALL JumpStart students enrolled in 6 credit hours at the University of Mississippi are awarded a half-tuition scholarship of $918.00 ($459.00 in August Intersession). This scholarship does NOT cover out-of-state fees.

To ensure the scholarship is applied to your account, students must fill out the Summer Financial Aid application on This application informs the Office of Financial Aid that you are expecting summer aid from the Division of Outreach. The JumpStart Scholarship is uploaded AFTER a student has attended JumpStart KickOff and/or checked in with the JumpStart office. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for the scholarship to appear on the student's financial aid package.

In order to maintain the scholarship, students must maintain a six (6) hour class schedule (2 classes), complete 5 hours of study hall each week, and attend SkillStart sessions each week. If a student does not comply or follow through with the set requirements for JumpStart, the JumpStart office will rescind the scholarship award and the student will be responsible for any and all expenses incurred on the Bursar Bill.

Financial Aid

Federal Aid

Pell grants may be available for students who qualify, but students must complete a 2016-2017 FASFA by June 30, 2017, in order to determine eligibility. Note: this is not the 2017-2018 FAFSA that you completed for the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 academic year. The FASFA application can be found on the University of Mississippi Financial Aid homepage. The University of Mississippi school code is 002440.

Other Scholarships and Grants

Students interested in obtaining additional financial aid should complete the Summer Financial Aid application on the University of Mississippi Financial Aid homepage.

Pay Your Bill

Bursar Bill

All expenses listed above under "Costs of the Programs" are billed directly to the student's Bursar account, except the $300 application/program fee for JumpStart. The JumpStart Office does not have any control over any fees added to the student's bill as they are charged by various University departments.
