Application Process

What are the basic requirements to apply?

To apply, you must

• be a degree-seeking University of Mississippi student. Rising juniors, seniors, recent-graduates, and graduate students can participate.

What does the online application include?

A complete application includes:

• Resume: A 1- or 2-page resume that highlights your education and experience
• References: Contact information for 3 references, one from your advisor or a faculty member, and two from former employers.

What’s the application process like for IE?

Prospective participants must submit an on-line application, which includes a resume, cover letter, and names of 3 professional references. Students who meet minimum qualifications will be offered an interview with IE staff to discuss potential internships, career goals, and academic interests. Offers of acceptance are made to students who:

• Meet IE program requirements
• Can talk intelligently about prior work, volunteer, and/or leadership experience and how they relate to prospective internships
• Are motivated, reliable, adaptable, and possess strong written and oral communication skills
• Can take direction and advice from constructive criticism during the application and interview process
