Appeals, Complaints and Grievance Procedures
Requests for exceptions to the policies are stated in this
catalog must be made in writing to the Director of
Independent Study, P.O. Box 729, The University of
Mississippi,University,
MS 38677-0729. The Independent Study student is
responsible for being familiar with and complying with the
policies stated in the Independent Study Bulletin and
student packet. Any exception to policy must be provided
on the basis of student appeal. Appeals are reviewed on
the basis of justifiable and documented circumstances.
Independent Study does not adjudicate grade appeals.
Requests for exceptions to the policies in this catalog
must be made in writing to the Director of Independent
Study, P.O. Box 729, The University of Mississippi, University,
MS 38677-0729.
The student appeal must be written or typed, and must
include the following:

the student's current mailing address
-
the student's daytime telephone number
-
the course(s) to which the appeal pertains
-
the exception or waiver of policy requested
-
a description of the circumstances upon which
the appeal is based (attach any supporting
documentation)
Students who have complaints about a course should contact
the Department of Independent Study in writing. Our

Final Grade Appeals
The department follows the "Academic Grade Appeal
Procedure" as outlined in theUniversity of Mississippi's Policy Directory. See Policy Code ACA.AR.600.002.
