Credit
Policies in regard to credit vary among accredited
institututions of higher learning. To determine
the applicability of credit earned in independent study
courses, a student seeking a degree should consult the
catalog or the dean of the school or college from which
he or she expects to receive a degree.
Students who expect to earn an undergraduate
degree from The University of Mississippi should
consult their dean in regard to the maximum number of
hours which may be earned through independent study.
Before enrolling for courses, students should consult

Catalog with regard to degree requirements
and course prerequisites.
Students who are seeking a degree
from The University of Mississippi must secure written
approval of their dean to pursue independent study courses.
Deans may indicate approval by completing and signing
the appropriate blanks on the application form. The
signature is valid for 60 days.
A student may be enrolled for no more than six semester
hours by independent study at one time.
