BUSINESS ETHICS
INTRODUCTION
Philosophy 357, Business Ethics, is an introduction to the study and practice of ethics in business. Its objectives are:
- to recognize that ethical behavior is necessary for business, for without it, business would be impossible;
- to understand the basic ethical theories in business practice, in order to help clarify one's own ethical beliefs;
- to enjoy the relevance of philosophy to business, and so to realize that a successful business is an ethical enterprise.
This course offers three (3) hours of academic credit.
MID-COURSE TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION
The student will take a Mid-Course Test and Final Examination at a physical location in
a college or university setting. Detailed instructions and Mid-Course Test and Final
Examination applications are included in the online syllabus.
COURSE APPROVAL
The course is approved the chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion,
College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Mississippi.
The instructor is appointed by the department chair.
INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Michael L. Harrington is professor of Philosophy and Religion and Chair of
the Department of Philosophy and Religion. He holds a B.A. from Davidson
College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Emory University.
