FOUNDATIONS OF LEISURE
INTRODUCTION
Foundations of Leisure is a course which will provide a basic understanding of the evolution of leisure and the field of leisure delivery services. An overview of the sociological and historical ramifications of earlier societies will provide a conceptual introduction and philosophical point of reference from the study of recreation and leisure as societal phenomena and the professional agencies and services in the field in contemporary America.
This course offers three (3) hours of academic credit.
COURSE EXAMS AND FINAL EXAMINATION
The student will take TWO Course Exams and a Final Examination at a physical location in a college or university setting. Detailed instructions and Course Exam and Final Examination applications are included in the syllabus. Information regarding tests and procedures can be found in General Information.
INSTRUCTOR
Dr. James D. Gilbert is an associate professor of leisure management and coordinator of
leisure management. He received his B.S. and M.A. from Western Kentucky University and his Ed.D. from Northern Colorado.
