ELEMENTARY GERMAN I
INTRODUCTION
Taking German 101 might be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences in your academic career. Through the study of German, you will gain access to a language spoken by more than 90 millions people living in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and is widely understood as a second language throughout Eastern Europe and the entire world. You
will find German to be useful not only in the world of music, art and literature but also in business, industry, commerce and technology. As the Federal Republic of Germany grows in importance as an
economic power on the European continent, it will become increasingly important to have knowledge of the German language, history and culture. This course represents a point of departure for you as you begin to study these fields. Whether you are taking this course for credit toward a degree, for pure enjoyment or in hoes of creating new career
opportunities, you will find this course both challenging and satisfying. Intended for students with fewer than 2 years of high school German.
This course offers three (3) hours of academic credit.
MID-COURSE TEST AND FINAL EXAMINATION
The student will take a Mid-Course Test and Final Examination at a physical
location in a college or university setting. Detailed instructions and
Mid-Course Test and Final Examination applications are included in the
online syllabus. Information regarding tests and procedures can be found in General Information.
